THE SCROLL: Pergamos
(Study 5-C)

The name "Pergamos" means "Elevation," in Greek. It also means "Marriage." In this study we will examine the continuing effects of the Church not earnestly striving to preserve the purity of the doctrines first committed to the first-generation followers of the Messiah. What takes place when a religious institution, in a state of unrest, joins itself to a state government instead of trusting in the Most High for preservation in a hostile world? How are we, as Christ's followers, to react to such a situation?

We observed in Set 4 of these studies what happened to the Jewish nation when they rejected their Creator, and turned Him over to the civil government, the Romans. History often does repeat itself, as it did during this third age of the Church's history.
